Timmy’s Blog: Homestead Miami Speedway NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Recap
Homestead Miami Speedway is the final race of the 2015 season. Seems like the year has flown by and as I reflect back on our season, I can't help but think of how lucky I am to work with such a great group of guys & gals! Homestead has always been a very special track for me. In 2011, when I was crowned rookie of the year on the Homestead Miami Speedway stage, this track has changed my life forever. So each time I come back to race here, brings back so many great memories. When we arrived we had one practice session to start the day. Right off the hauler we knew our #94 truck would have a great final race of the season. I could take the truck and run low in the corners or even take it right up against the fence. Our Silverado was driving great! As we moved forward to qualifying, we needed to qualify in the top 27 of the 38 attempting trucks to make the field. We would do just that and qualify a very solid 25th place starting spot. As the sun set on that Friday evening the realization of the season coming to an end became more apparent. Before the race started everyone on the Premium Motorsports team thanked each other for all the hard work & effort that we have all put in to make this season possible. As the green flag waved and the race began I wanted a strong race to end the year on a good note. In the first laps of the race we picked up a couple spots right away. The race would play out to be a very calm as far as the lack of caution flags that would fly. This led to green flag pit stops. Let me remind everyone that our shop mechanics are also the hard working pit crew that goes over the wall and let me say when we had our stops tonight, that they were very solid stops and they put me back on the track right where I was racing! We raced hard all night long and we all had fun with it. The checkered flag would drop with our #94 Premium Motorsports truck finishing 21st on the night. I can't tell everyone enough how appreciative I am to work with such a fun and hard working group of people. We had a lot of high moments this year earning 2 top 15 finishes & 9 top 20 finishes of the 12 truck races I ran this year. Our truck team would finish 19th in the points standings which is a great first year for this team! As we now work our way into the offseason, I am currently unsure of my 2016 racing plans. As always we are working to find great partners to share these great experiences with that will last a life time. If anyone would like to join me next year, please reach out! Until next time, I hope everyone has had a great year and have a wonderful holiday season!
